[KHIDI USA C&D Success | Abion] LigaChem Biosciences and Abion Partner to Jointly Develop 'iADC': Securing Exclusive Global Rights for Up to 5 Targets
SEOUL — LigaChem Biosciences announced on September 30 that it has entered into a joint research and technology in-licensing agreement with Abion to co-develop immunocytokine-antibody drug conjugate (iADC) candidates. The collaboration combines Abion's interferon-beta variant (IFN-β mutein)-based immunocytokines with LigaChem's proprietary antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) platform technology.
Under the terms of the agreement, LigaChem Biosciences secures exclusive global development and commercialization rights for up to five designated targets. The deal structure comprises upfront payments for target designation and joint research, research and development milestones, regulatory and commercial milestone payments, and tiered royalties tied to net product sales, remaining effective until the royalty period for the final product concludes.
The agreement also grants LigaChem first-notification and negotiation rights if Abion pursues third-party out-licensing for the platform, alongside a pre-negotiated share of any resulting licensing revenue. While detailed financial terms remain confidential, LigaChem disclosed that the total contract value exceeds 10% of its equity capital, which stood at 541.1 billion KRW at the end of last year.
