Apollon Secures KRW 5 Billion Series A to Accelerate Needle-Free CGM Development (09.23.2026)

Apollon, a developer of needle-free continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems, announced on September 23 that it has raised KRW 5 billion (approximately $3.7 million) in a Series A funding round. This brings the startup's cumulative capital to over KRW 10 billion, combining private equity investment and government R&D grants.

The financing round was led by SBI Investment, with strategic participation from Naver—ahead of the launch of its dedicated digital healthcare division next month—and Daewoong, Apollon's domestic distribution partner.

Apollon is developing a non-invasive continuous glucose monitor that measures blood sugar directly from the skin using Raman spectroscopy. Rather than scanning the entire spectrum, the company's proprietary technology isolates signals from glucose-specific wavelength bands. Apollon has built an extensive intellectual property portfolio around this method, filing 54 patents with 21 already registered, including 17 in the United States.

"We first established clinical validation, patent protections, and strategic partnerships in the United States, which paved the way for this domestic investment," said Aram Hong, CEO of Apollon. "Following our upcoming clinical study with the Harvard Medical School-affiliated Joslin Diabetes Center and pre-submission discussions with the U.S. FDA, we anticipate significant reassessment and commercial acceleration in the U.S. market."
